Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is an ancient art and modern science that uses the power of plant medicine for healing.
Essential Oils are the tools of Aromatherapy; they are extracts distilled from the leaves, fruits, flowers, sap, bark, seeds, and roots of plants. Essential oils have been used for thousands of years around the globe. These aromatic oils are highly potent, natural, and effective therapeutic remedies for healing the body, mind, and spirit. Using essential oils, an aromatherapist can help a variety of conditions by combining different oils to create a balanced, therapeutic remedy.

Our approach to essential oils
Open Heart Apothecary oils are formulated with a deep knowledge of the science of Aromatherapy. They contain no synthetic fragrances, sulfates, parabens, phthalates, preservatives, or chemicals. They are 100% pure, non-toxic, vegan, and cruelty-free. We source our raw ingredients from companies that create sustainably wildcrafted/organic essential oils and certificates of analysis in each batch.
We recommend two ways of using essential oils:
Applied topically to the skin when blended with a carrier oil such as jojoba, grapeseed, or coconut oil. The oils are absorbed into the bloodstream for a variety of therapeutic benefits. Our divinely scented roll-on blends are already blended at a 5% dilution and are safe to put directly on the skin.
Diffused into the air for inhalation. This method works through the nose (olfactory system) and has profound benefits for the brain and nervous system. We recommend using a cool water diffuser or one of our pre-blended spritzers.
When using essential oil products, please keep these safety guidelines in mind:
Patch test before use: apply to the inside of the wrist as a patch test and wait 24 hours Avoid contact with eyes; always wash hands thoroughly after use.
Avoid while pregnant and breastfeeding.
Use caution around small children and pets.
Keep the oils in a cool, dry environment, away from sunlight. They will keep longer if stored in the refrigerator.
Do not ingest or take essential oils internally without guidance from a medical professional.
